Biography
I,Dr SamipillaiMarivel, am a structural chemist with 11 years of experience, including 6 years of postdoctoral experience in structural chemistry research. Earlier, I was graduated in Chemistry BSc (2001) andMSc (2003) from India. In Dec 2008, I was awarded with PhD in Supramolecular Chemistry from National Chemical laboratory, India. I then moved to a few different countries (Italy and Hong Kong) for postdoctoral stints and I was subsequently awarded a prestigious Claude Leon Postdoctoral Fellowship (United Kingdom-South Africa) and worked as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University of Cape Town, South Africa (2012-2014). Currently, I have beenworking as X-ray Postdoc and Crystallographer at Catalysis and Peptide Research Unit, School of Health Sciences, University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa where my I focus on growing crystals of HIV protease with inhibitors and their structural analysis by X-ray Crystallography. I also work on crystal structure of chiral catalysts and peptides.
