Biography
Bio- Keith D Allen, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation and with joint appointments in Pediatrics and in Dentistry at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He trained in clinical psychology at Western Michigan University and West Virginia University. Dr. Allen specializes in the treatment of children with a wide variety of behavioral health conditions and developmental disabilities. His research and clinical interests include management of pain, fear and stress-related disorders in children and adolescents and the treatment of children and youth with autism spectrum disorders. Dr Allen has had research grants from NIH, including the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research, the Dept of Health and Human Services, Department of Education, and the Angelman Syndrome Foundation and has been recognized as both a Distinguished Researcher and Outstanding Teacher of the Year at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He has published over 90 scientific papers and chapters on interventions with children with behavioral health concerns and he has published widely on behavioral dentistry, including strategies for reducing anxiety, pain and distress during dental procedures. His work has been published in Pediatrics, Behavior Therapy, Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, Research in Developmental Disabilities, & Pediatric Dentistry. He serves on numerous editorial boards of peer-reviewed journals related to the behavioral health of children. He is Co-Director of the Nebraska Internship Consortium in Professional Psychology, one of the largest predoctoral internship consortiums in the country.
