Biography

Born on 7th Feb 1944, in Odisha, India. Obtained MBBS degree with scholarship from Utkal University, Odisha in 1971.Obtained MD (Pharmacology) degree from Berhampur University, Odisha in 1978. Joined as a research scholar in pharmacology in MKCG Medical College, Berhampur from 1973 to 1974. Obtained fellowship as FCGP from IMA College of General Practitioner, New Delhi, 1981 and fellowship of FRSH (London) in 1982 from Fellow of Royal Society of Health. Became a teacher of pharmacology for the first time in 1974 in ANMC Gaya and there after PMC Dhanbad and became associate professor in RMC Ranchi in 1983 to 1997, guided more than 20 post graduate MD pharmacology students. Then became professor & Head of Dept. of pharmacology in PMC Dhanbad in 1997.Beacme professor and Head of dept. of pharmacology in SMIMS, Gangtok, Sikkim, as a founder teacher in 2002 for the Ist batch of MBBS and taught various courses of MBBS, BSc. Nursing, BPT, BPharm and DPharm. Started MD pharmacology PG degree course in SMIMS in 2011 and guided 6 MD pharmacology students and 3 P.hD students. Became member secretary of Institutional Ethics Committee of SMIMS for 2009 to 2010 and remained member of same for the year 2013 to 2014. Worked as a member of committee for Review, evaluation and progress of work of Institutional P.hD candidates, SMIMS from 2011 to 2014. Established Regional ADR monitoring & Reporting center in department of Pharmacology in 2009 in SMIMS, Gantok. Worked as chairman cum convenor of institutional “Dissection Monitoring Committee” for small laboratory animals from 2012 till 2014 in SMIMS. Received awards from Pro-Chancellor and Vice-chancellor of Sikkim Manipal University, Gangtok for my outstanding contribution to the Institution. Worked as chairman of Pharmacy Committee for the state of Jharkhand from 1999 to 2002. Worked as a chairman of Ethics Committee of Central Regional Research Institute (AYUS), Gangtok, Sikkim, from 2007 to 2014. Also secretary to scientific advisory committee of the same institute for above period. Became contributory author for the book “Manual of Pharmacology” of revised edition, 1979 by Prof.Dr. K.D Chaudhary, RMC, Ranchi. Published more than 25 research papers in national and international journals. Worked as chairman and guest lecturer in several CME programs, workshops & training programs of practitioners of folk medicine, Gangtok. Became Professor and Head of dept. of Pharmacology and therapeutics in Chitwan Medical College, Chitwan, Bharatpur-10, Nepal from 2014.
