Biography

PhD in Biochemistry with European Doctor Mention and Specialist in Clinical Biochemistry. Associate Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the University of Balearic Islands (https://palou.uib.eu/) and Researcher of the Centre for Biomedical Network Research on Physiopathology of Obesity and Nutrition (https://www.ciberobn.es/en). As Investigator on several national or European grants, I collaborated with many other international researcher teams, produced more than 35 peer-reviewed publications, co-directed 3 PhD Thesis projects and several Master Thesis projects. My research focuses on the molecular mechanisms involved in the control of cellular and metabolic processes by food and food components in relation to the control of body weight, obesity and its associated metabolic complications, cancer and aging. In addition, I am interested in in the identification and validation of new biomarkers for the characterization and quantification of physiological functions related to food and health. MC member of the EU COST Action CA15136 European network to advance carotenoid research and applications in agro-food and health and Coordinator of the group ?Biochemistry of Nutrition? of the Spanish Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.?
