Biography
Dr Stefano Ballestri gained is Medical Degree in 2003, followed by Internal Medicine Degree in 2008 and PhD Degree in Hepatogastroenterological, Endocrinological and Immunoallergological Sciences, International Doctorate School in Clinical and Experimental Medicine Course in 2012, at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. During the PhD course he spent a nearly 6 months training at Institute of Cellular Medicine of Newcastle University (UK) where he was involved in both laboratory and clinical activity. He worked as Internal Medicine Consultant at Division of Metabolic Medicine of NOCSAE, Modena, Italy from 2008 to 2012 and he is since 2013 full time permanent Internal Medicine Consultant at Division of Internal Medicine of Pavullo Hospital, Modena, Italy. He is a member of the following scientific societies: AISF ? Italian Association for the Study of Liver, EASL ?European Association for the Study of Liver, FADOI- Italian Federation of the Associations of Internal Medicine Consultants, SIEC- Italian Society of Ecocardiography, SIMI- Italian Society of Internal Medicine, SIUMB ?. Italian Society of Ultrasonography in Medicine and Biology. Dr Ballestri MD PhD is author of 50 "in extenso" publications on international journals. He acts as reviewer for several international journals.

Epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of fatty liver (metabolic and viral); genetic determinants of fatty liver; metabolic syndrome; insulin resistance; association between fatty liver, metabolic syndrome, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases; liver ultrasonography.
