Biography
Dr. Samrat Das is residency program director and vice chair for education at the University of Nevada School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics.
He completed his residency at New York Medical College where he received the best intern and best outgoing resident award. After completing his chief residency, he relocated to Las Vegas.
After spending time as a pediatrician in a medically underserved community of Clark County, he joined the School of Medicine faculty as a pediatric hospitalist. He decided to take the path of being an educator, mentor, as well as advocate for young trainees who choose a career in pediatrics by becoming program director in August 2014. He received the outstanding educator of the year award from the class of 2014.
Dr. Das is director of clinical simulation training for pediatric residents. His research interest is in interprofessional education using simulation.
He has published several publications and is a recipient of several awards including Americas Top Pediatricians and Patients Choice Award.
He is currently the secretary-treasurer for the Western Regional of American Federation of Medical Research and serves on its national council. Dr. Das also serves on the Simulation Pediatric Education Group of the Association of Pediatric Program Directors.
