Biography
Dr. Reyazul Rouf Mir, Assistant professor in the Division of Plant Breeding & Genetics at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) has more than 10 years of research experience. He has a longstanding engagement in research in the area of applied genomics of Jute, wheat, and legumes like chickpea, common bean, pigeonpea and groundnut. Dr. Mir has significantly contributed for the development of different types of molecular markers (in jute), bi-parental mapping populations for gene discovery, QTL/gene discovery for important targeted traits (in jute, wheat, pigeonpea, common bean and groundnut) and their use in marker-assisted selection programs (in wheat). Development of improved lines with superior quality traits in wheat through marker-assisted selection (MAS) programs. Dr. Mir has contributed significantly in the development of physical map in chickpea. He has also worked for one year at UC-Davis and contributed significantly in characterizing chickpea wild germplasm for variety of traits and developing wild à cultivated introgression population and in identification/cloning of genes for flowering time and nodulation
