Dr. Pinar Kuru Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine
Biography
My goal is to understand the mechanisms that lead to inflammatory diseases and to develop cure options for neurodegenerative diseases. Beside of my ongoing medical training, I worked as a researcher with many PIs and laboratories in various fields, such as physiology, pharmacology, neurogenetics. I designed, assisted and involved in several research projects. I worked in the departments of Neuropharmacology, Clinical Neurophysiology, Neurogenetics, Physiology, Cardiology, Thoracic Surgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and this allowed me to gain a broad understanding of medicine and human pathology. I authored more than 10 publications, 20 national/international poster/oral presentations in scientific congresses and 1 book chapter. I was elected as a medical education representative for four years in my medical school, and I am the founder and editor-in chief of Marmara Medical Student Journal. As a Student hospitality crew leader, I participated many international meetings and organized student teams.
