Biography

FRSM Dr.med.Sci. et h.c. ENT specialist Mette Pedersen defended her PhD in Oulu University (Finland) based on her research at Gentofte Hospital, Denmark (head of ENT Department Mirko Tos) in 1997. Currently, she is working as an ENT Specialist at The Medical Centre, Voice Unit, Østergade 18, Copenhagen. Of professional memberships Mette Pedersen has by invitation been member of the European Union of Phoniatricians since 1976 and from 2011 been honorary member of Pacific Voice and Speech Foundation. She was a Danish delegate from the Danish Ministry of Science in the European project COST (European Cooperation in the field of Scientific and Technical Research) 2103 regarding voice health. Mette hosted COST first time in 2010 and has since organized COST annually. Together with the 8th COST related symposium in December she is hosting the 7th World Voice Consortium on the 8. and 9. of December 2017. Her research has included research on voice related instruments, voice development, laryngopharyngeal reflux, immunological and genetic aspect of hoarseness, High Speed recordings of vocal cords and latest OCT of the throat and vocal cords among other subjects. Mette Pedersen is author or co-author of more than 100 original papers in English, Danish, German and Spanish language on various aspects of voice function and co-author of more than four books. Based on this research she has received 29 awards and honours, such as: Hall of Fame from International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England in 2009, MD Herbert H. Dedo Award for Enhancing Education in Laryngology and Voice Care in 2012, Honorary Professorship of Research, IBC Cambridge, England in 2014 among others.
