Biography
Dr. Lei-Shih Chen is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Health Promotion and
Genomics Lab in the Department of Health and Kinesiology at Texas A&M University
Currently, she advises 15 graduate students, five undergraduate students, and one research
associate. Dr. Chen is a Certified Health Education Specialist. Her research focuses on Public
Health Genomics- linking genomics with other fields of research. These include autism, genetic
testing/screening, cancer prevention and control, health disparities, and health education. Dr.
Chen has received numerous grants as the Principal Investigator (~ $1 million dollars) and two
grants as a Co- Principal Investigator (~1.43 million dollars). She has 23 publications (most of
which have her as the first and corresponding author), and several articles have been published
in prestigious journals. Along with more than 100 presentations, Dr. Chen has received
numerous prestigious research awards (e.g., ?Horizon Award? from the American Association
of Health Education).
