Lewin is a clinical psychologist and Emeritus Professor in the Department of Health Sciences where he continues his research into innovative and effective self-management approaches in chronic illness with a strong focus on cardiac illness. Professor Lewin has developed and tested, in randomised controlled trials, a number of cognitive-behaviour self-management programmes, several of which are in use in the NHS. He has contributed to a number of Department of Health initiatives and guidelines.
