Biography

Mark has been working at De Montfort University and its predecessor institution for over 30 years during which time he has been involved in the design, implementation and delivery of a range of undergraduate and post-graduate programmes.  Involved in forensic science delivery for over 10 years Mark steered the Forensic Science degree programme through the accreditation process and through its first periodic review.  Mark is now active in several areas within teaching and research and is a DMU Teacher Fellow with interests in OER, IBL and employability.  Mark’s research interests include DNA-based authentication techniques and fingerprint recovery from difficult surfaces.

Mark is an external examiner, an approved assessor for the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences (CSFS) University Accreditation Scheme and has worked with Skills for Justice.  He is a Member of the Royal Society of Biology and Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy
