Karen originally trained and worked as a clinical psychologist; has experience of commissioning mental health services and co-led the national programme for gender equality and women’s mental health for the Care Services Improvement Partnership.Karen’s research is largely applied and participatory. Her recent research has focused on advocacy, policy implementation and equalities in health and social care. Karen has also been commissioned by a broad range of organisations to undertake service reviews and provide service and organisational development.
