Appointed as consultant cardiologist and Clinical lead in diagnostic and interventional echocardiography and cardiac testing (non-invasive), Papworth Hospital, 2009. Current positions held include co-Lead in specialist valve and structural heart disease service and co-chair in trans-aortic valve implantation (TAVI) programme at Papworth Hospital. Active member of the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE);  Member council 2011-2014. BSE Education committee member 2005-date; Chair of Education Committee 2013-date. BSE lead for trainees 2012-2013. Previously co-opted BSE council member and SpR representative 2005-2010. Dr Rana has developed national training programmes including BSE Advanced Imaging Conference held yearly at the Royal society of Medicine, London, now in its sixth year. As a junior doctor she pioneered a lecture course in echocardiography for trainees in NW Thames deanery; this concept was later taken up by the BSE and now runs as a national training day (BSE core echo day).
