Biography

Professor Abdul Gatrad OBE qualified in Leeds and undertook his post-graduate training in Manchester. He spent 2 years in Malawi, Central Africa and is a full-time actively practising paediatrician for both general paediatrics and neonates. Professor Gatrad welcomes referrals for general paediatric patients for conditions such as heart murmurs, asthma, urinary tract infections, headaches/abdominal pain, failure to thrive, convulsions, constipation etc.

Dr Gatrad has over 25 years experience in General Paediatrics and neonatology. He has been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work in most common paediatric specialities prior to taking up consultant post. Cardiology (2 years), gastroenterology, respiratory medicine, child psychiatry, dermatology, neurology, endocrine and nephrology. This has helped him to consolidate his work as a consultant. He has been a Clinical Director and also Postgraduate tutor to the Walsall Manor Hospital. He was also head of safeguarding children for 6 years.Secondary education in Zimbabwe and Harrow.

Postgraduate education in West Yorkshire and Manchester Areas - (Manchester Childrens Hospital and St Mary's Hospital at the North West Perinatal Centre).
