Biography

Dr. Muniappan Sankar, Associate Professor at Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Roorkee-247667, Uttarakhand, India. He has obtained BSc and MSc degrees in Chemistry from Madras and Madurai Kamaraj Universities, respectively. Then he joined in IIT Madras to earn his PhD in Synthetic Porphyrin Chemistry. In 2005, he joined as a postdoctoral researcher at Tel-Aviv University, Israel in the area of porphyrin-based supramolecular network solids. In 2007, he obtained Bourgogne Regional invitation postdoctoral fellowship from university of Bourgogne, France. Later he worked as a CNRS researcher at University Rennes, France for a year. During 2009, he moved to Japan to take up JSPS fellowship sponsored by Ministry of Education, Japan. From 2011, he is working at IIT Roorkee. He has published 50 research papers in reputed international journals and 59 conference proceedings.

Research Interest

His research interests are Synthesis of novel porphyrins and their analogues for material and medicinal applications, Supramolecular chemistry, Coordination chemistry and Catalysis.
