Biography

Dr. Bo Dong is Ph.D. in 2010 from Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS), Qingdao, China. From 2010-2013 he was a postdoctoral fellow at Sars International Centre for Marine Molecular Biology, Bergen, Norway. From 2010-2013 he was Foreign Postdoctoral Researcher at RIKEN CDB. From 2013-2014 he worked as Research Scientist at RIKEN Center for Developmental Biology (CDB), Kobe, Japan. From 2014 to till now he is Professor at Ocean University of China, Qingdao, China.

Research Interest

He is principally interested in uncovering cellular processes and the underlying mechanisms that support the biological tube formation. In his previous work, he revealed the complex cellular processes of notochord tube formation, the molecular mechanisms and physical basis for biological tube geometry control using marine model animals. In future, through the combination of genetics, physical model and molecular imaging,he is going to use marine animal (Ciona) notochord and Drosophila tracheal system as models to understand the morphogenetic signaling network on polarized vesicle trafficking, cytoskeleton organization, membrane biogenesis and extracellular matrix dynamics during lumen formation and cell shape change.
