Childhood Obesity can be prevented by the help of parents and other family members. By applying small changes in the daily food recipes, one can encourage healthier eating habits in their children. Parents should not keep high calorie products in their homes, for children get addicted to them. They should help their children to be physically active by regular games and exercise.

This can be determined by the use of BMI percentile categories using growth charts.85th-95th percentile are classified as overweight, 95th percentile are classified as obese.
