Figure 1d. The posterolateral side of the PV is carefully dissected, ligating the tributaries. Then, because there is an avascular plane between the PV and pancreatic neck, the posterior surface of the pancreatic neck is exposed after this dissection. Finally, the pancreas is transected and the resected specimen is removed.
