WAIS is a type of client software that is used for searching textual databases, making it possible to retrieve relevant records by searching for keywords. Currently, any WAIS software can be used for searching the database. A detailed search guide for installing and using WINWAIS client software is provided. In early 1995, Toxicology Abstracts will also be searchable through the World Wide Web using any Web browser software, such as Mosaic. Using the electronic file makes it easy to search for the specific information you need. For example, you can combine a search for a specific chemical with the name of an author, the name of a specific source journal, the year of publication, or the name of a country. Each file includes a detailed list of descriptors. The descriptors include chemical names as listed in the Merck Index, names of enzymes as listed in Enzyme Nomenclature, and bacterial names as listed in Bergey 3 Manual of Systematic Bacteriotogy.
