Abstract

An Unusual Mass in the Oropharynx

Dr Mukesh Edward

A 39 year old female presented with 3 months history of change in voice, dysphagia and snoring. On examination an approximate 3x3 centimetres, congested, non tender, firm, smooth surfaced globular swelling was seen in the oropharynx. The mass was covering the oropharyngeal isthmus while protruding tongue which didn’t bleed on touch. With other routine investigations, thyroid function tests and ultrasound of the neck was performed to rule out lingual thyroid.
