Retinal Stem Cells

There are many types of cells in the neural retina to contribute to the retinal regeneration. Fishes, amphibians and chicks at the margins of retina that contribute to the normal growth of the eye and can reproduce the cell in case of injury or damage. In adult fish there is a specialized progenitor population in retina that can regenerate rod photoreceptors selectively.
