Dental crown is a fixed prosthetic device which is used to cap the damaged tooth. It not only protects the tooth, but also enhances the appearance, shape and alignment. These  dental crowns, when cemented into place, fully encase the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line.
