Autophagy

Autophagy deals with destruction of cells in the body. It is a physiological process. It involves catabolic mechanism. Its main pathway is macro autophagy i.e. to eradicate damaged cells or unused proteins. Micro autophagy and chaperone-mediated autophagy are the other two pathways. Its functions are xenophagy, nutrients starvation, autophagy and infection, repair mechanism and programmed cell death.
