Biography
Dr. Fei Yan obtained his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin in 2012 and is now working as a research scientist at Rice University. He has published nineteen research publications, including seven first-authored papers. Dr. Yan’s research areas include soil, groundwater, and sediment remediation, electrochemical remediation technologies, electrochemical applications to environmental engineering and mineral scale control in oilfield. Dr. Yan innovated a new active capping technology – electrode enhanced capping for remediation of contaminated sediment. He developed and applied voltammetric techniques to detect redox sensitive species, such as oxygen, Mn(II), Fe(II), and sulfide, in sediments. He has served as a reviewer for leading journals such as Environmental Science and Technology, Journal of Environmental Management, Science of the Total Environment, Environmental Science: Processes & Impacts, and Bioresource Technology, and has reviewed over forty manuscripts for these journals.
