Biography

Dr. Faisal Ali received his BSc degree in Laboratory Medicine from Sana?a University, Faculty of Medicine in 1998 and subsequently appointed as Medical Technologist at the University Hospital till 2006. Dr. Faisal Ali received his MSc degree in Medical Biotechnology from Wageningen University, The Netherlands in 2008, he moved back to Sana?a initially as a lecturer in the Faculty of Medicine, Sana?a University till 2011. He proceeded to the Malaysia and earned his PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry from Universiti Putra Malaysia, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in 2015. After that he has appointed as an assistant professor stay at the Universiti Putra Malaysia, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in the department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Metabolism and Genomics Group up to date.

Research Interest

Current research interests of Dr. Faisal cover four main areas: 1) Regulation of gene transcription profiling by lipids and/or phytochemiclas, emphasizing the role of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARs) and other nuclear hormone receptors; 2) Functional roles of specific bioactive compounds in lipid and glucose metabolism genes with a main focus on energy metabolism associated genes and their signaling pathways; 3) The relationship between lipid metabolism and reduction of adiposity;4) Studying the role of genetic variation and dietary response and the role of nutrients in gene expression.; 5) On the clinical trials interests, our research group has been working on the improvement of metabolic health in patients with increased abdominal obesity using dietary and life style changes.
