Biography

Dr. Slottje is a Senior Managing Director with FTI Consulting, Inc. He resides in the firm’s Dallas office. Dr. Slottje has provided consulting services to clients in various industries. He has significant experience in litigation consulting in antitrust matters. In addition to advising counsel, he has provided testimony in these matters as well as in others. Dr. Slottje is a Professor Emeritus of Economics at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and is a former partner in an international consulting firm. Dr. Slottje received his Bachelor of Arts from Clemson University in 1979 and his Ph.D. in Economics from Texas A&M University in 1983. He has published more than 135 articles and written or edited 15 books on many economic issues. His papers have appeared in the American Economic Review, Econometric Reviews, the Journal of Econometrics, the Review of Economics and Statistics, the Journal of Applied Econometrics and the Journal of Business and Economics Statistics, among others. Dr. Slottje is a member of the American Economic Association, the American Statistical Association, and the Econometric Society. He has advised the United Nations Development Programme. He has advised the Swiss Competition Commission. He is a reviewer for the National Science Foundation, the Social Science Research Council of Canada, Oxford and Cambridge University Presses, as well as serving as a referee for many journals including the American Economic Review, the Review of Economics and Statistics, the Journal of Applied Econometrics, the Journal of Econometrics, and the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics. Dr. Slottje was named to the “applied econometrician hall of fame” in 1999 and ranked in the top three in the world (out of over 5000 people) in applied econometrics, based on number of published articles in top econometrics journals. He was named Fellow, Journal of Econometrics, in 2008.
