Biography

Dr Archana Sarkar, Assistant Director, MAMTA- Health Institute for Mother & Child (India) is PhD in Medical Anthropology from Delhi University. She has more than 14 years of experience in research and programs on public health, maternal, child and neonatal health, HIV/AIDS and adolescent health including reduction of umbilical cord infections, nutritional and low cost public health interventions. She has been involved in large trials with Johns Hopkins University in India, Bangladesh and Africa.

Research Interest

She is currently leading an Innovation project on feasibility of HIV screening and strengthening PMTCT funded by International HIV/AIDS Alliance. She has presented papers in International AIDS Conference, ICAAP and published in BMJ, BMC Public Health, JPGN and PLoS One among others. She was awarded the Young Scientist Award by International Nutrition Foundation. She also attended ?NSCII Incubator Awardees? in Kenya in December 2013 as a part of ?Saving Lives at Birth Incubator Award?. She was also part of an innovation project on salivary progesterone which was selected for Grand Challenge India Award, 2015.
